Atterberg's Limit Test
The Atterberg limits are a basic measure of the critical water contents of a fine-grained soil.
California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Test
The California bearing ratio (CBR) is a penetration test for evaluation of the mechanical strength of road subgrades and basecourses.
Chemical Analysis Of Soil
Soil chemistry is the study of the chemical characteristics of soil. Soil chemistry is affected by mineral composition, organic matter and environmental factors.
Direct Shear Test
A direct shear test is a laboratory or field test used by geotechnical engineers to measure the shear strength properties of soil or rock material, or of discontinuities in soil or rock masses.
Los Angeles Test
Abrasion is the process of scuffing, scratching, wearing down, marring, or rubbing away. Abrasion can be an undesirable effect of exposure to normal use or exposure to the elements.
Seive Analysis
A sieve analysis is a practice or procedure used to assess the particle size distribution (also called gradation) of a granular material.
Soil Hydrometer Test
A hydrometer analysis is the process by which fine-grained soils, silts and clays, are graded. Hydrometer analysis is performed if the grain sizes are too small for sieve analysis.
Unconfined Compression Test
This test compresses a soil sample to measure its strength. The modifier “unconfined” contrasts this test to the triaxial shear test.
Water Analysis
This test provides the water content of the soil, normally expressed as a percentage of the weight of water to the dry weight of the soil.
